Interested in Theta Xi?

Are you a leader? Are you interested in growing your own potential—and then reaching it? Are you seeking a circle of friends that will stick by you for a lifetime?

If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, Theta Xi is the place for you! We are more than a house at Theta Xi…we are a home. Our brotherhood, built on the ideals of openness, responsibility and understanding, has endured for over 100 years at the University of Washington. Here you will find experiences and enduring relationships that will stay with you for a lifetime.  Just as iron sharpens iron, living and working with the brightest minds on campus will create a better version of you. In turn, we will benefit from knowing you as well.

Come join us! Every Thursday at 7 PM we have an informal BBQ and volleyball game at the house. If you're free, feel free to stop by. The rush chairs are available all day to give house tours, go out to lunch,  and let you get a feel for what we are all about. Their contact information can be found in the "Contact" tab.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens when I contact a "Rush Chair"?

Our Rush Chairs are brothers whose responsibility is to introduce you to Theta Xi, our brothers, and our values. Our rush process is "informal" which means that you are free to join at any time during the year. If you contact one of the rush chairs and are looking to join, he will follow up with you and plan a time for you to come over to the house to take a guided tour and meet the other brothers.

What does the rush process look like?

If the rush chair believes that you will be a good fit for Theta Xi, he’ll continue to invite you to events so that we have the opportunity to get to know you, and for you to get to know us. Our goal throughout the rush process is to make sure that Theta Xi is the right fit for you. Once we are sure that the fit is good for the house and for you, we will extend a bid to join us as a new member.

What sort of people join Theta Xi?

We are proud of our diversity, both inside and outside the classroom.  Academically, our brothers' majors are spread evenly between those in the liberal arts, in business, and the hard sciences (i.e. engineering). Outside of the classroom, we each share different strengths and talents, giving us many opportunities to learn about a variety of subjects.  Despite our various talents, one thread runs through each brother: we are each leaders, dreamers, and doers.

What academic opportunities are available?

Academic achievement is the primary goal of everyone in school, and we stress that fact.  Each of the brothers of Theta Xi excels in his chosen academic field of study, and is more than happy to help another brother study and succeed. Because of the extensive study help that is available, a Theta Xi brother is more likely to have better grades than someone who is not in a fraternity. We have a dedicated library at the house with textbooks for many courses, saving you money on purchasing them. We also strive to maintain a chapter GPA that is one of the best in the fraternity system. We also have an excellent alumni organization of professionals and entrepreneurs who are more than willing to assist brothers by giving career counseling or even providing employment.

What social opportunities are available?

When most people hear we are dry, they automatically assume we must be a boring fraternity. We're anything but boring. We hold events several times a week that our brothers and associates participate in to build up our brotherhood. In addition, we participate in events with other houses, both fraternities and sororities. When it's nice out there is almost always a group of people playing volleyball on our lawn. As a house, we also regularly go bungee jumping, camping, hiking, and even skydiving.
